A long-established Swansea bridal wear business has relocated to The Kingsway, to celebrate 20 years of trading, and to take advantage of the opportunities due to unfold thanks to the ongoing regeneration there.

Chic and Elegant Bridal Wear, which has helped to create thousands of fairy-tale endings for brides over the past two decades, from its shop in Mansell Street, enjoyed its own ‘big day’, with a grand opening this weekend.  Owner, Linda Hurford has set up shop in a larger site on The Kingsway, where she can grow the business further.

She said: “I’m very pleased to be relocating and expanding Chic and Elegant into Swansea’s Kingsway, which is being transformed as we speak, by the ongoing City Centre regeneration. I feel that now is the time to take advantage of the improvements that are going ahead in the City Centre, and to make sure Chic and Elegant is at the heart of the new-look City Centre as it emerges, by relocating to this larger, more modern store.

“We will offer the familiar Chic and Elegant service in our new home, but now with a wider range of stock, bigger changing areas, and more up-to-date surroundings.  Chic and Elegant will continue to offer the appointment only experience, so the bride and family have our complete attention. I would like to thank our clients and Swansea BID for their support over a number of years, which has enabled us to continue trading in the City Centre through some tough times.”

Russell Greenslade, Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) Chief Executive said: “We are very pleased to see Linda’s business going from strength to strength, and it is great to see her give The Kingsway such a vote of confidence. Chic and Elegant was one of the early recipients of a Swansea BID Extra Mile Award, for outstanding customer care, and we know both Linda and the business are very popular – we wish her every success in her new location. The Kingsway is fast becoming a honeypot for brides, grooms and their families, since Perfection Bridal relocated there from High Street this year, too.

“Businesses up and down the country are operating in times of great changes in the way we spend our leisure time and our money, and we are proud of the way Swansea BID Businesses are adapting to meeting the expectations of their clients and customers. Swansea City Centre itself is going through this exciting regeneration phase which is having an impact on businesses on the ground and it is important that we continue to show them our support.”
