Radnor Hills to stock farm brand in Tesco stores in Wales

Radnor Hills celebrates its rich history and raises awareness for breast cancer with a new listing in Tesco stores across the country this week for its award-winning Heartsease Farm brand.

The brand, which includes a sparking ginger beer, and a pink raspberry-flavoured lemonade is now on sale in Tesco.

Established over 30 years ago, Radnor Hill’s story began with the discovery of a water source in the Watkins family farm.

The family-owned drinks company’s Sparkling British Raspberry Lemonade has teamed up for a number of years with the Pink Ribbon Foundation to raise awareness about breast cancer.

The Pink Ribbon Foundation is a grant-making trust with a mission to provide financial support to UK charities and projects supporting people suffering from or have been affected by breast cancer.

The trust currently supports over 58,000 breast cancer cases a year.

Speaking on the importance of the new listing, Tesco Wales buyer Nathan Edwards said “We’re very proud to be supporting the important work undertaken by the Pink Ribbon Project with the stocking of Heartsease Farm.

“By having the logo on the bottles of their Raspberry Lemonade, we hope to help Radnor to build awareness about this fantastic charity and help them to raise more funds to advance the understanding of breast cancer, its early detection and treatment.”

The pink lemonade will be packaged to highlight the sparkling pink beverage and will feature the country’s crest and the pink ribbon logo.

The drinks company is very much a family business, having been discovered by William Watkins in 1990 and kept in the family ever since.

Nestled in the rolling green hills of Radnorshire, Radnor Hills water is naturally filtered through ancient layers of rock and bottled only seven minutes away, ensuring its crisp fresh taste – the Watkins family produces and packs all of its products on the farm.

The Watkins family is passionate about protecting the pristine environment that provides fresh spring water and strives to ensure that does not change. The company produces 21% of its power of the company’s power via solar energy, while all of its plastic bottles are 100% recyclable and made up of 30% recycled material.

The company has also sent zero waste to a landfill for the past five years due to the on-site recycling facility.

Radnor Hills Managing Director, William Watkins said the expansion into Tesco was another step in the family’s mission to bring the spirit and joy of Radnor to the world.

“When my family first found water on our farm, we dug a borehole. The plan was simply to use it as a water source for our livestock,” he said.

“Once we realised that we were surrounded by the very best natural spring water, we knew that this had to be shared with the world. This Tesco listing is another step in doing this and we can’t thank Tesco enough for their support.”

Radnor Hills is just the latest new Welsh product to be launched by Tesco in Wales, with the supermarket’s Welsh-based buying team planning further product launches this year to further expand its industry-leading range of Welsh products in stores.
