Robin Morgan to celebrate 10 years of stand-up comedy with special event

Chapter Arts Centre has announced a special virtual event of stand-up comedy, by Robin Morgan and some of his best comedy friends, to take place on Friday 3 July.

In 2010, Robin Morgan (BBC Radio 4, Sky One, CBBC and BBC One) performed his first stand-up gig at Drones Comedy Club.

This year, to celebrate a decade of doing stand-up, Robin was due to perform at Chapter with a one-off special comedy gig.

Although Chapter is unable to host the celebration as originally planned, they are delighted to welcome back Robin for this online virtual comedy gig, featuring:

    • Angela Barnes (Host of BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, as seen on Mock The Week and Live At The Apollo)
    • Stephen Bailey (Host of C5’s Celebs On the Farm and Comedy Central’s Takeshi’s Castle, as seen on Live At The Apollo and Celebrity Mastermind)
    • Leroy Brito (As seen on BBC One’s Tourist Trap, and host of Fake Views on BBC Radio Wales)

A limited number of ‘front row seats’ are available – audience members will be part of the Zoom call with the performers. These tickets are limited, and on a first-come-first-served basis so if you want to be involved book early to avoid disappointment. Other audience members will watch the show, as if they’re watching stand-up on the telly.

Hannah Firth, Programme Director of Chapter: “Chapter’s doors have been closed since the middle of March which has obviously had a huge impact on our audiences. It’s also been a really difficult time for artists and performers with venues unable to bring people together to enjoy their events. We’re really pleased to be able to support this virtual gig and we hope people will join us in celebrating Robin’s first 10 years of comedy!”

Robin Morgan: “I’m so excited to be hosting this gig – all three comics are fabulous and lovely and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate a decade in comedy. In July 2010 I did my first ever gig at Chapter Arts Centre, and as soon as I stepped onto the stage, I just knew that in ten years time, I would be hosting a virtual gig on Zoom because of a global pandemic. I just knew it. This is the best way to enjoy live comedy at the moment, with an actual audience in our ‘front row’. I can’t wait”

The stand-up comedy gig with Robin Morgan & Friends is on Friday 3 July, 8pm.

On the day of the show, audiences will be sent a Zoom code. It’s best to ‘take your seat’ (log onto the meeting) at around 7.45pm, for the show to begin at 8pm.

All tickets cost £5 and they are available to purchase at chapter.org.
