Drivers heading west on the M4 motorway between Junction 28 (Tredegar Park) and Junction 29 (Castleton) are facing heavy congestion after incident lane restrictions this morning.

According to Traffic Wales, lane 1 remains blocked while lanes 2 and 3 are now open.

Travel times in the affected stretch are estimated at around 40 minutes of delay.

Compounding matters, the region is experiencing extremely bad weather — strong winds and driving rain — which is making conditions hazardous for motorists.

    Advice for drivers
    • If you can, delay non-essential travel on this section until the congestion eases.
    • Allow extra journey time if you must travel through the area.
    • Drive with caution — reduce speed in the wind and rain, maintain safe distance.
    • Keep an eye on Traffic Wales updates or live motorway cameras for latest information.
