Techniquest in Cardiff Bay is getting ready for a frightfully fun October, with a packed programme of spooky science and family-friendly activities running through half-term and beyond.

The science discovery centre, known for making STEM both fun and educational, has something for everyone this autumn, from families with little ones to adults looking for a unique night out.

    Half-term highlights

From now until 18 December, visitors can enjoy seasonal shows and workshops, including:

    • Ghoul School in the live science theatre

    • Magic of Science workshop in the lab

    • Little Bear in the Planetarium, designed especially for under-7s

And for the grown-ups, Coffee Mania will be serving up spiced pumpkin lattes — perfect for warming up on chilly autumn days.

    Adult Lates: Shocktober Fest

    • Thursday 30 October, 7pm (18+)

    • Tickets: £17 (includes welcome drink)

Techniquest isn’t just for kids. Its adults-only evening is back with over 100 hands-on exhibits, a ghoulish live science show, electrifying demos, and Oktoberfest-style food and drinks. Fancy dress is encouraged, so get creative and join in the spooky fun.

    Special Halloween Family Event

    • Saturday 25 October, 5:30pm–8:30pm

    • Tickets: £12 per person, under-3s go free

Families are invited to a fang-tastic evening filled with glowing pumpkins, playful scares and plenty of hands-on fun. The event includes access to all exhibits, a Trick or Treat Trail, craft stations, Halloween-themed magnets, and a fancy dress competition. Little ones can enjoy temporary tattoos, while everyone will be wowed by the live Ghoul School science show.
