Immersed! Music Festival – run entirely by University of South Wales students – is joining forces with the iconic BBC Radio 6 Music as it returns to Cardiff in March 2022.

Coming back bigger, louder than ever and packing a hefty musical punch, Immersed! is supporting 6 Music’s first Cardiff festival, showcasing the best of South Wales’ vibrant music scene across three fringe events, all in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

Featuring five stages and more than 60 artists, the festival kicks off on Tuesday 29 March at renowned Cardiff venue Tramshed, with the Cardiff Soundsystem Stage bringing the best of Welsh rap, hip hop, R&B and neo-soul, featuring 2021 Welsh Music Prize nominees Afro Cluster and the mighty Mace the Great, Benji Wild, Lemfreck, FAITH, Minas, Ladies of Rage, and more.

The USW Presents Stage will feature performers and artists from USW’s School of Music & Sound, including Yasmine & the Euphoria, Basic State, Slummz, User Busy, Terrapins, Howl, N.A.S.H and many more. This immersive experience is complimented by graffiti artists, street food, cabaret performance, short films, art exhibitions and an upcycled fashion market.

During the daytime at the Tramshed, the festival will host Climate Clash Cymru, an event dedicated to innovations in live music for tackling the climate crisis, including a pop-up gallery and mural based on the typographic work of Anthony Burrill. In partnership with Music Declares Emergency, Climate Clash Cymru will explore ideas for making live music more sustainable and marks the organisation’s first visit to Wales.

The festival moves online on Wednesday 30 March, with Immersed TV live streaming to a global audience. This will act as a bridge between the two physical events, offering a chance to relive the highlights from the night at the Tramshed and exclusive previews for the CULTVR Lab. Immersed TV will be a dynamic night of programming offering up a mix of live performances, interviews and discussions with the performers and festival partners.

Immersed! 2022 reaches its finale on Thursday 31 March at Europe’s first performance space dedicated to shared virtual reality experiences, CULTVR Lab. The lineup features the best of Cardiff’s alternative music scene, including Black Elvis, Telgate, Shlug, Motel Thieves, Daytona Black, plus Breichiau Hir, Silent Forum, Ynys and SYBS from Libertino Records. CULTVR Lab’s 360-degree video dome immerses the audience in a multisensory audio-visual experience.
