Community groups, voluntary organisations and local partners across Swansea are being invited to apply for grant funding this summer to support food provision and activities for residents.

Swansea Council has opened applications for a range of grant programmes under its #HereForYouThisSummer campaign aimed at helping children, young people and older residents, as well as supporting emergency food provision across the city.

Almost £700,000 is available to support a wide range of activities, including holiday provision, community food projects and initiatives that help people stay connected, active and supported during the summer months.

Jane Whitmore, from Swansea Council, said: “These grants are about supporting communities and helping organisations deliver practical support where it is needed most. We know that local groups are best placed to understand their communities, and this funding helps them make a real difference over the summer.

“The Summer Wellbeing Grant aims to reduce pressure on families and help people stay connected to their communities.”

The COAST Children and Young People and 50+ grants are designed to support residents with activities that promote wellbeing, inclusion and engagement.

The Holiday Food grants focus on food provision during school holiday periods, while the Emergency Food Aid grants support organisations providing immediate help to people facing food insecurity.

Ms Whitmore added: “We want to encourage a wide range of applications, from established organisations to smaller community groups. If you have a project that supports people with food or activities this summer, we want to hear from you.”

Full details on eligibility, criteria and how to apply are available on the Swansea Council website.

Organisations need to apply by June 8.

Organisations with experience of working with local communities are encouraged to apply by visiting: https://www.swansea.gov.uk/summerwellbeinggrant
