16-time JD Cymru Premier champions have joined an elite group of clubs in world football after completing an invincible unbeaten league season.

TNS sealed the unbeaten league campaign with a 2-0 victory over fierce rivals Connah’s Quay Nomads at their Park Hall home this afternoon. It means the UEFA Champions League regulars finished the league season with 30 wins and two draws in their 32 league matches played this term.

It means they join an exclusive club of teams who have completed this feat such as Arsenal, Rangers, Porto and Juventus. TNS have firmly put themselves on the map after a remarkable campaign that has seen them go undefeated in every single Welsh domestic fixture in league and cup, with just the JD Welsh Cup final next Sunday standing in their way from winning a domestic treble.

The club have broken the record for number of goals scored, surpassing their previous record of 112 by netting an outstanding 117 league goals this season. Craig Harrison’s side have also now surpassed the two-year mark since they last lost a domestic fixture at their Park Hall home and are 54 games unbeaten in all Welsh domestic matches home or away, boasting one of the most impressive streaks in world football. Today’s win over their local rivals has also ensured they’ve won the league by a record number of points. .

Speaking following the victory over Connah’s Quay, Head Coach Craig Harrison said:

“It’s a huge achievement, not simply going unbeaten, but the manner in which we’ve done so by winning so many games.

“Thirty wins and just two draws is a fantastic achievement, and the players should be very, very proud of themselves.

“When everything quietens down and the dust settles, I think it’ll be looked at as a really really top achievement by a top group of players and staff.”

The club’s top scorer Brad Young who has scored 29 goals in all competitions this season, said:

“It’s an incredible achievement from everyone at the club and full credit goes to everyone involved in this historic season. It’s great to have gone unbeaten but we need to get the job done next week in the Welsh Cup final before focusing on making more history in Europe this summer.”

Fans will now wait to see if The Saints can claim a historic unbeaten Welsh domestic treble when they take on Connah’s Quay Nomads in the JD Welsh Cup final at Newport’s County’s Rodney Parade next Sunday (28th April, 17:25 KO).
