The Offspring: Supercharged Worldwide in ’25 tour hit Cardiff’s Utilita Arena last night, Monday 10 November, and what a night it was. The Offspring and Simple Plan joined forces for a double bill that had the crowd jumping, shouting and singing from the very first chord.
It had been a long-awaited return for both bands. Simple Plan last performed in the city during the summer of 2024, supporting Avril Lavigne at Cardiff Castle, while The Offspring’s last Cardiff show was back in November 2021. This time, they came back louder, faster and better than ever.
Simple Plan opened the night with their trademark pop-punk energy, kicking straight into fan favourites “I’m Just a Kid” and “Perfect”. Within seconds, the arena was bouncing and filled with voices singing every word. Frontman Pierre Bouvier’s connection with the crowd was genuine, and his attempt at speaking Welsh went down a storm with local fans. Hearing “diolch” shouted from the stage in a Canadian accent was something special.

The night was even more memorable for my daughter, Cerys, and me. We were lucky enough to meet Simple Plan backstage at a VIP pre-show pizza party. Cerys proudly welcomed them back to Wales and taught Pierre a few Welsh phrases, which he later used during the show. Seeing him repeat her words on stage and hearing the crowd cheer was a lovely moment we won’t forget.

Then came The Offspring, and the energy somehow cranked up another notch. Dexter Holland and Noodles showed exactly why they’re punk-rock icons, blasting through anthems like “Want You Bad” and “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)” with unstoppable power.
One of the night’s most emotional moments came when Dexter sat at the piano for “Gone Away”. The entire arena lit up with phone lights as fans swayed and sang along. It was a rare, reflective pause in a set otherwise packed with chaos and adrenaline, and it was beautiful.
Just when it felt like things couldn’t get any better, The Offspring led the crowd in a surprise cover of “Hey Jude”. Thousands of voices joined in, and for a few minutes, the whole arena felt united in song.
From start to finish, it was a night of nostalgia, connection and pure punk-rock joy. Cardiff was loud, proud and absolutely buzzing.
Next, the bands head to Dublin’s 3Arena before returning to London’s O2 this Friday to continue the 2025 tour. A few tickets are still available through Ticketmaster UK, and if you can get one, go. You won’t regret it.
