Get ready for a magical reunion as The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre proudly unveils the return of three pantomime favourites, Richard Elis, Gareth Tempest and Aled Pugh, in this year’s enchanting production of ‘Dick Whittington’.

Last year, The Riverfront Theatre announced a milestone achievement with its record-breaking pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, captivating over 27,000 attendees and shattering previous records.

Returning once again to delight audiences is Newport’s favourite, Richard Elis. With his much-loved comic roles and boundless energy, Richard has become a beloved staple of the stage, captivating audiences with his performances year after year.

“It is brilliant to be back at the Riverfront once again this year. I have been able to play an array of different characters here on this stage – but this is the first one that means I need a litter tray in my dressing room!”

Joining Richard in this year’s adventure is Gareth Tempest, a hometown hero whose talent has graced The Riverfront stage for many years. From his early days in the young company to his recent show-stopping turn as Dame, Gareth’s versatility and charm have made him a fan favourite. Anticipation is high as we eagerly await the magic he will bring to the stage this year.

Adding to the excitement, Aled Pugh will be returning to The Riverfront stage for his third consecutive year, which we’re sure will delight many. Adored by the audience, Aled has received countless compliments on his hilarious performances over the years.

With further cast & creative team announcements to follow in the coming months, prepare to be swept away on a journey of laughter and adventure as Dick Whittington, and his loyal cat, set out from Newport in search of friendship, fortune, and fun.  With laugh-out-loud gags, breathtaking scenery, dazzling costumes, and plenty of opportunities for audience participation, this timeless tale of rags to riches promises to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Creative Development Manager at The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre, Jamie Anderson says “We’re incredibly fortunate to kick off our casting announcements with Richard, Gareth & Aled. We are overjoyed to have them back with us at The Riverfront this season. They have been with us over many years through many roles and that experience really shows in how they understand our audiences and our values. It wouldn’t be a Riverfront Panto without them.”

Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this extraordinary adventure! On stage from 27th November until 4th January this timeless family pantomime will transport you to a land where love conquers all.
