Thomas Carroll, independent insurance, risk, wealth management and insurtech company, has attracted five new executives to its teams in Caerphilly, Hereford and Swansea.
Tegan McKernon has joined Thomas Carroll’s Hereford office, after spending seven years at Marsh, as well as working in Pen Underwriting.
Nick Owen is working out of Thomas Carroll’s Swansea office as an associate risk advisor. After just over a year at Lloyd and Whyte, Nick has returned to Thomas Carroll Group.
New to Thomas Carroll’s Caerphilly office are Jamie Chambers, Alisha Edwards and Fiona Terry.
Jamie worked at Marsh and Towergate before joining Thomas Carroll in March. While Alisha had previously worked at bpw Insurance Services and Lloyd and Whyte, before joining Thomas Carroll.
Pension specialist Fiona joins Thomas Carroll’s Employee Benefits team as a senior consultant, after working at Howden for more than a decade.
Gareth Cotty, Thomas Carroll’s Group Chief Commercial Officer, said of the appointments: “The wealth of experience that we have gained from taking on these five executives is second to none. We are so proud that we have been able to attract them to Thomas Carroll from some of the UK’s leading brokers. I believe it is testament to the great reputation and commitment to the independence of Thomas Carroll Group that we are able to entice employees of this calibre to join us.
“I am looking forward to seeing them grow with us and watching their careers go from strength to strength.”
Speaking about rejoining Thomas Carroll after a year at another broker, Nick Owen said: “I am so delighted to be back at Thomas Carroll. It really is a great place to work. The senior management are so approachable, all of my colleagues are on the same page and it is really refreshing. I’m really excited to be part of it.”
Tegan McKernon added: “The fact that Thomas Carroll is an employee-owned business was a great attraction for me. It makes you feel like you’re all in it together. The independence of the company means that it’s really agile, and you get decisions made quickly and easily.”
Jamie Chambers said that Thomas Carroll’s reputation was what attracted him to the role: “Being born and bred in south Wales you are always aware of the Thomas Carroll brand and its reputation for quality and expertise. It’s an aspirational company to work for and its values and ethos aligned with mine, so it was a no brainer to join.”
Alisha Edwards, who has recently been named as the new president of the Cardiff branch of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), said of her appointment: “Thomas Carroll represents the pinnacle of insurance broking in south Wales – independent, highly respected, and aligned with my own personal values. It’s always been my ambition to work here.
“Now, with the company being employee owned, that also had an impact on my decision to join. There is a genuine culture of togetherness here, where relationships matter and everything we do is approached with a personal touch. It’s a great team to work for.”
Fiona Terry said that after 21 years of working in financial services, she’s looking forward to advancing her career even further at Thomas Carroll: “I joined Thomas Carroll because of its reputation as a truly client focussed business. I was also attracted by its personalised approach to both its customers and its employees and, so far, the experience has been all that I could have wished for. The future is looking very bright.”
