    Thousands attend Caerphilly Winter Fair and River of Light Lantern Parade

    Caerphilly town centre saw thousands of visitors attend for the Winter Fair and River of Light Lantern Parade on Saturday the 30th of November.

    Over 4,000 people were welcomed to the town despite the drizzly weather, this is 3,012 more visitors recorded compared to the previous Saturday.

    The fair hosted a variety of food, drink and crafts stalls, as well as other entertainment such as Santa’s Grotto, puppet shows, live music, Caerphilly on Ice, and more before the River of Light Lantern Parade took over for the evening. The Parade showcased an amazing 650 lanterns that were made in fun workshops over previous weekends.

    Other markets in Caerphilly including Ffos Caerffili, Caerphilly Artisan Market, Crafty Legs Fair and Market, Castle Court Craft and Food Market and local businesses were also well supported over the weekend.

    Hear what local businesses and traders thought of the Winter Fair:

    Gin Lizzy said “Thank you for Saturday, we sold out at 4pm!”

    Sians Emporium commented “Thanks again for a hugely successful day and all the effort put in by your team and the stewards. In terms of sales and benefit it was one of the best trading days ever.”

    The Jewellery Stall said “Just like to say thank you all for a wonderful day in Caerphilly. The lantern parade was ace.”

    Tina Jones from New Look commented “Outstanding! It really was amazing, and people need it in these challenging times. The event was great for the community and the atmosphere was nice and festive.”

    David Gay of P H Gay & Sons said, “It was a very good day with a lovely atmosphere.”

    Changs Wok also said “Just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and your team. Another great show.”

    Little Grandmas Kitchen also commented “Thank you all for a great day Saturday. The weather was good, and the people were out.  All staff were so helpful and cheerful which makes it a pleasure to take part.”
