Ystrad Mynach’s latest spring fair saw a remarkable turnout, with footfall counters recording over 5,000 visitors throughout the day. This was an impressive increase of nearly 4,000 visitors compared to the previous Saturday, making it the busiest day of the year so far.

The event attracted a diverse crowd, including families, couples, and friends of all ages, all enjoying the lively atmosphere. Despite it being a windy day, the weather remained dry, perfect for exploring the wide selection of stalls. There was a huge selection of food, drink, craft, and information stalls and the younger visitors were entertained by punch and Judy shows, slime workshops, sand art, funfair rides, and animal displays.

Local businesses played a key role in the event’s success, with many coming out into the town distributing flyers and taking full advantage of the opportunity to engage with visitors. The primary goal of these events is to drive footfall into town centres, and this spring fair certainly achieved that.

What local businesses and traders thought of the fair:

John Davies of Noel’s Family Butchers said, “Marvellous event, nice to see the town busy, lovely weather too and everyone looked like they were having a wonderful time.”

Amy from D. Emlyn Lloyd Hardware Store commented “Great turnout, lovely to see the High Street full and people out and about and choosing to shop locally!”

Jon Richards of Fields of Magnetic Horizon Record Shop said, “Like previous events, today has been another great day, very beneficial to my business and the other retailers in town.”

Gaynor Enright from Memories Gift Shop also commented “Another successful day and hope everyone enjoyed it – thank you to the weather too!”

Supreme MELT Co also said “A brilliant day all round! Ystrad Mynach has such a vibrant town centre with lovely independent shops and a strong community spirit. The event was really well organised and created a great atmosphere for families and traders alike. We had an amazing response to our melts and would love to return!”

Ystrad Mynach will host a Christmas market later in the year, another key date to support local businesses.

The next exciting event in the calendar is the Caerphilly Food & Drink Festival, taking place on Saturday, 12th April which is sure to draw in a large crowd.
