To mark the 15th anniversary of their debut album Tourist History, much loved indie band Two Door Cinema Club have today announced a huge outdoor show for TK Maxx presents DEPOT Live at Cardiff Castle in 2026.

The Northern Irish trio – Alex Trimble, Sam Halliday and Kevin Baird – will play Cardiff Castle on Sunday August 2.

The historic castle setting will see them play Tourist History in full, alongside hits from across their career. They will be joined on the night by Indie dance band Friendly Fires, while groundbreaking new band 3LIJAH will open the show.

Speaking about the gig, Alex, Sam and Kevin said: “We’re so excited to be coming back to Cardiff and to be playing at the iconic Cardiff Castle.

“We have fond memories of introducing our first album songs to a tiny crowd at the Cardiff Barfly and we’re so happy our relationship with Cardiff has taken us on a beautiful journey through iconic Welsh venues. This one is going to be special.”

Hailing from Bangor and Donaghadee, Northern Ireland’s Two Door Cinema Club first gained widespread attention with their debut album Tourist History, which included standout singles ‘What You Know’, ‘Something Good Can Work’ and ‘Undercover Martyn’, mixing guitar-driven, post-punk hooks with dancey, electronic polish.

The band, comprising of singer/guitarist/programmer Alex Trimble, guitarist/singer Sam Halliday and bassist/singer Kevin Baird, released the album in 2010, hit Number One on the Irish chart and landed a spot on the BBC’s coveted Sound of 2010 Poll. It went on to be a globally lauded, seminal debut record taking them from the garage where they wrote the album in Bangor to the main stages of festivals around the world – and Tourist History clearly still resonates with ‘What You Know’ recently reaching 1 billion streams globally on Spotify.

Following the release of Tourist History they continued to evolve, landing in the Top 2 of the UK chart with sophomore album 2012’s Beacon and subsequent albums Gameshow, False Alarm and Keep on Smiling, which have all landed in the top 10 of the UK charts, cementing the band as a global arena band and festival headliners.

Most recently, in 2024, the band embarked on a sold out 30-date amphitheater tour of the United States, finishing the year in style with a sold out Australian arena tour, which culminated in an incredible performance at the iconic Sydney Opera house, showcasing the trio’s unwavering worldwide appeal. Now they’ll come back to the capital to celebrate 15 years of Tourist History in London’s Crystal Palace Park.

Supporting Two Door Cinema Club will be Friendly Fires. The Mercury Prize nominated three-piece – Ed Macfarlane, Edd Gibson and Jack Savidge – self-titled debut album was an era-defining record, launching the band to huge critical and commercial success. It was nominated for the Mercury Prize and a BRIT Award, and catapulted the band on to the stages of Festivals and Arena tours worldwide .The record transcended the punk-funk scene of the time and was followed by second album Pala which peaked at Number 6 in the UK album chart. The band’s last album Inflorescent was released in 2019 marking a rebirth for the group and saw them further embrace the dance floor in their collaborations with Disclosure and Friend Within.

Opening the night will be gritty, genre-blurring outfit 3LIJAH. Trying not to fit into a scene, 3LIJAH are building their own space, their own voice, and inviting others to feel something real. Their second single, Teenage Fever is set for release today.

Two Door Cinema Club join Billy Ocean, Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics, Ethel Cain, David Gray and the Blackbird Festival, featuring Alter Bridge, Skindred, Florence Black, Cardinal Black and more among the first headline announcements for TK Maxx presents DEPOT Live at Cardiff Castle 2026 which is presented by promoters DEPOT Live and Cuffe and Taylor.

DEPOT Live founder Nick Saunders said: “Two Door Cinema Club are true indie icons – and we are delighted to add them to the line-up for TK Maxx presents DEPOT Live at Cardiff Castle 2026 for an epic album anniversary party night. Don’t miss out on tickets for what is sure to be a fantastic highlight of the summer!”

Presale tickets are available at 10am Thursday via depotlive.co.uk and all tickets go on general sale at 10an next Friday (Oct 31st) via depotlive.co.uk and ticketmaster.co.uk
