Virginia Park Youth Centre have opened a dedicated space to give young people opportunities to improve their overall wellbeing.

The wellbeing room, named ‘The Back Room’ by the young people, serves as an oasis to take time out and recharge. The safe space for all young people has wellness focused décor, mindful colours, a calming nature and comfortable furnishings to aid wellbeing.

‘The Back Room’ can be used by all young people that attend the centre, partner agencies to meet young people i.e. PCHAMS and one to one support. It can also be utilised by staff for wellbeing breaks.

Virginia Park Youth Centre is the main hub for youth support and activities in the south of the borough, providing services to all young people aged 11-25. The centre offers youth club type activities, Welsh youth club, part time clubs, Duke of Edinburgh, LGBTQ groups, outreach and detached work, targeted work, holiday provision and community work.

The centre is also open for access to free period products, C Card resources and as a water refill station. The Virginia Park Team work closely with partner agencies to enhance the provision in the centre and in the wider community.

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration and Climate Change said, “It is fantastic to open the wellbeing room as a designated quiet and calm space for young people to use at the Virginia Park Youth Centre.

“I know the space will be well used by young people to recharge and improve their wellbeing and I hope it will be beneficial for many years to come”.
