Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK and Ireland has once again expanded its reach and capability with the successful acquisition of a leading testing laboratory in Wales.

On 25th April Eurofins completed the acquisition of Altair Analytical, a specialist independent food and drinks testing laboratory which employs 12 members of staff from its site in Carmarthenshire.

Launched in 2015, Altair Analytical has cemented its reputation regionally and has grown to become the largest independent food and drinks lab in Wales, providing a range of microbiology testing with quality and customer service front-of-mind.

Mark Carnaghan, Managing Director of Eurofins Food & Water Testing UK and Ireland, explained: “We’re pleased to announce the acquisition of Altair Analytical, an organisation which boasts strong local links and which has developed an impressive reputation across Wales over the last seven years.

“Our businesses have collaborated on a successful acquisition process, and we’re delighted to welcome all 12 members of Altair staff to the Eurofins family,” he added.

“This acquisition will provide even greater value for Altair’s customers as we introduce them to our expansive cross-specialist network of industry-leading labs, inter-company services, and our pioneering customer platform, Europortal.”

The acquisition comes exactly a year after Eurofins acquired Alliance Technical Laboratories (ALT) Ltd, and will continue to enhance the company’s food, water, and feed testing service provision in Wales and the South West as part of planned strategic growth.

“Eurofins is committed to continuously enhancing the service we offer to customers as part of our current five year growth strategy, and our work with the team at Altair Analytical will help us to develop a Centre of Excellence in Microbiology in Wales,” Mark concluded.

The site, based in Capel Hendre, is within easy reach of the M4 corridor and all major access routes, enabling the team to continue offering customers a reliable 7 days a week, 365 days a year, collection service.
