A major £5 million investment is being made to improve the condition and safety of roads across Caerphilly County Borough, as a wide-ranging programme of resurfacing and surface dressing gets under way.
Caerphilly County Borough Council is delivering essential road improvement works at over 50 locations across the county borough. The programme began in late July and is expected to continue through to the end of September, subject to weather conditions.
The resurfacing work will target priority areas using a combination of treatments suited to specific road conditions. This includes Finagrip surface dressing treatments, where the worn surface layer is replaced while retaining the underlying road structure and Inlay road resurfacing, which involves removing a portion of the existing road surface (usually by milling) and then replacing it with new material, often asphalt.
Councillor Nigel George, Cabinet Member for Corporate Services and Highways said,
“Maintaining and investing in our road network is a top priority, and this programme clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to improving the condition and safety of our highways.
“These works will extend the life of our roads, improve driving comfort, and reduce the need for more disruptive and costly repairs down the line.”
