    Housebuilder reaches milestone in Llanwern

A new community is beginning to form at a development in Llanwern, where nearly a quarter of homes are now built.

Bellway Wales is delivering 152 houses at Heron’s Mead, off Queensway, comprising two, three and four-bedroom properties, with construction set to finish at the end of next year.

A total of 33 homes have been completed at the development, which is transforming part of the former Llanwern steelworks site.

Seventy-three of the 137 properties for private sale have already been purchased – 33 of which are now fully built and occupied – while a further selection of homes are still to be released onto the market.

The development will also provide 15 affordable homes for local people, through rent or shared ownership, as well as a children’s play area.

Carly Maidment, Sales Manager for Bellway Wales, said: “As construction work continues at Heron’s Mead, residents are starting to settle into the new neighbourhood that is being created here in Newport.

“With a wide selection of properties available, buyers at various stages of the property ladder have taken advantage of the development’s convenient location on the edge of the city. The strong commuter links via the M4 have proved a particular draw for house-hunters from Bristol seeking a high-quality home and better value for money.

“We have also witnessed a high demand from families due to the extensive choice of well-regarded schools within a two-mile radius of Heron’s Mead, including Glan Lyn Primary which is just a five-minute walk from the development.”
