Hannah Blythyn, AM for Delyn, has called on young people to make sure their voice is heard by registering to be part of the first ever Welsh Youth Parliament.

With just days to go until the deadline closes on Sunday September 30, the Delyn AM said it was vital young people across the constituency don’t miss out on this “great opportunity” to stand up for their generation and their community.

Those aged between 11 and 18, in Delyn and across Flintshire can still put themselves forward to stand as one of the first ever elected representatives to the Welsh Youth Parliament.

The Youth Parliament, agreed by Assembly Members in October 2016, will sit for a two-year session following elections to be held over a three week period in November.

A total of 40 Youth Parliament members will be elected later this year with 20 selected by partner organisations representing young people. Candidates must either live in or be educated in Wales, and be aged 11-18 on November 25, 2018.

    Hannah Blythyn AM said:

“Our new Youth Parliament will provide a great opportunity for our young people to identify, raise awareness of and debate the matters important to them and I want as many people from our area to take part and be involved.

“I’d encourage every young person eligible to vote to make sure their voice is heard in November’s election.”

Registration to become a Welsh Youth Parliament candidate for Delyn ends on Sunday September 30 and more information on how to apply can be found at www.youthparliament.wales
