A property at the centre of ongoing drug-related concerns in Cardiff has been shut down following joint action by police and a housing association.

South Wales Police confirmed that the house in Adamsdown had been the subject of repeated complaints from local residents over several months. Concerns centred around suspected drug activity, with reports of people visiting the address at all hours to obtain or use drugs.

Residents also described incidents of violence linked to the property, adding to fears within the community and impacting their day to day lives.

Officers worked in partnership with Cardiff Community Housing Association (CCHA) to tackle the issue, gathering evidence and taking the necessary legal steps to bring the situation under control.

Following a successful Closure Notice application, the property has now been boarded up, and the tenant will not be returning.

Neighbourhood Pc Rachael Shortis, from South Wales Police, said: “I hope this Closure Notice will make residents feel safer in their own community, improve their quality of life and finally give them some peace.”

The action is part of wider efforts by South Wales Police and partner organisations to address anti social behaviour and drug-related activity, and to support safer communities across Cardiff.
