A popular pumpkin patch near Swansea has opened for the autumn season, with extra weekday opening dates and a programme of Halloween activities planned for later this month.
Gower Fresh Christmas Trees at Poundffald Farm in Three Crosses is welcoming visitors to pick pumpkins straight from the field, with a range of other attractions also available.
The farm is open from 10am to 5pm at weekends and will also open from 10am to 5pm from Wednesday to Friday this week, October 7 to 9.
Visitors can pay on the gate this week, although the farm is advising people planning to visit later in October to book in advance.
Entry is through a Car Pass, which covers one vehicle and up to six people. It costs £5 plus a 26p booking fee when purchased online, with pumpkins then paid for separately on the day.
Pumpkins of different sizes and colours are available to pick from the field.
There is also a café and Halloween barn, as well as a funfair which is operated separately and costs extra.
Visitors can head to the farm’s top site to meet its reindeer, with the option to feed them for an additional charge.
Other attractions include a pumpkin house, viewing platform, haunted swing, giant’s chair and giant skeleton, along with a dog and autumn arch, pumpkin face and marshmallow roasting.
All-weather tracks lead to the pumpkin fields, with the farm saying the site is suitable for buggies and wheelchairs.
The Car Pass also includes access to a Haunted Trail through the Christmas trees. Dogs are welcome on leads but cannot enter the reindeer area.
Halloween events planned
A series of special Halloween activities will take place towards the end of October, with the farm warning that booking is essential and tickets are selling quickly.
The Witches of the Farm is a one-hour, actor-led daytime adventure aimed at younger visitors.
Children will be tasked with collecting ingredients for the “Giant Potion of Halloween Magic”, before finishing their adventure with a Halloween party in the Cauldron Barn.
The event is aimed at children aged three to 12 and will run four times a day. The earliest sessions currently listed are on Saturday, October 24.
Tickets cost £10.95 for children aged one to 12 and £5.49 for those aged over 12, plus booking fees. Visitors must also purchase a Car Pass.
For older visitors looking for something scarier, The Harvest Calling will take place in the farm’s maize field on October 29, 30 and 31.
The night-time horror experience features live scare actors and is aimed at those aged over 12.
Arrival times run from 5.20pm until 7.20pm, with tickets costing £9.95 plus a booking fee.
Tickets include entry to the pumpkin patch and the opportunity to meet and feed the reindeer. As the experience takes place outdoors, visitors are advised to dress appropriately for the weather.
Gower Fresh Christmas Trees is run by the Morgan family and grows more than half a million Christmas trees on the Gower Peninsula. The farm held its first pick-your-own pumpkin event in 2018.
The pumpkin patch is at Poundffald Farm, Three Crosses, Swansea, SA4 3PB.
Car Passes and tickets for the Halloween events can be booked online. Tickets are non-refundable, although optional £1 booking protection allows customers to change their date and time up to 24 hours before their booked slot.
