Nominations are open for the 28th Actif Carmarthenshire Sports Awards, which recognise the athletes, coaches, volunteers, clubs and teams contributing to sporting life in the county. Nominations close on 25 October 2026.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli, on 18 February 2027. Gavin Griffiths Group has been confirmed as the headline sponsor of the ceremony.
The awards are organised by Carmarthenshire County Council’s Actif Communities Team.
This year’s 12 award categories include Sports Personality of the Year; Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year; Disabled Sportsperson of the Year; Community Sports Coach and High-Performance Sports Coach of the Year; Volunteer and Inspiring Young Person of the Year; Sports Team, Young Team and Sports Club of the Year; and the Outstanding Services to Sport Award.
Anyone born in Carmarthenshire, living in the county, or representing a Carmarthenshire club, school or organisation is eligible for nomination. Athletes, coaches and volunteers may be nominated for more than one award, but each category requires a separate nomination form.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans, said: “The Actif Carmarthenshire Sports Awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals, teams and organisations who make such an important contribution to sport across the county. Whether it’s competing at the highest level, coaching the next generation or volunteering behind the scenes, these awards celebrate the dedication and commitment that help make sport accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages.
“I would encourage everyone to nominate those who have gone above and beyond over the past year so that we can give them the recognition they deserve.”
