Swansea University is holding a new month-long arts and culture festival, PWLS, across Swansea throughout October.
Curated by Taliesin Arts Centre for Swansea University, the festival programme includes workshops, dance, film, talks, tours, theatre, poetry, exhibitions, music and comedy.
On Wednesday 14 October, Taliesin Arts Centre will screen Twin Town, the 1997 dark comedy crime drama set in Swansea, followed by a Q&A with the film’s director, Kevin Allen. The film follows brothers Julian and Jeremy as a dispute over their father’s work-related injury spirals out of control.
The following evening, Thursday 15 October, MWYHAU | AMPLIFY at Taliesin Arts Centre will present an evening of contemporary dance celebrating Welsh choreographic voices and Swansea’s local dance community.
The Arts & Culture Fayre will take place at Taliesin Create on Thursday 29 October, with student societies, local arts organisations and live performance.
The festival also includes creative tours, including an Art Collection Tour of Swansea University’s art collection on public display and backstage tours of Taliesin Arts Centre.
Swansea University Film Society has programmed Classic Cinema screenings, including Project Hail Mary and The Lost Boys on Monday 26 October.
PWLS coincides with the Festival of Social Science, which returns to Swansea from 17–19 October with free public events on this year’s theme of Money, Finance and Cost of Living.
Later in the month, the programme includes Phil Beer Trio, Royal Ballet and Opera: Manon, Dylan Moran: Looking for Trouble and Sh!t-faced Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet. The Sh!t-faced Shakespeare performance has already sold out, with a waiting list available.
