Separation technology company Eriez-Europe, which employs around 120 people at its European headquarters in Bedwas, has highlighted the part Caerphilly County Borough has played in supporting its long-term growth, innovation and investment.

The company, part of the global Eriez group, has operated continuously in South Wales since 1968 and serves customers across Europe and further afield from its Caerphilly base. The family-owned business was founded in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1942 and now employs more than 1,000 people worldwide across 12 international subsidiaries, with global revenues of approximately $280 million. Its European operations contribute upwards of £20 million annually.

The jobs at Bedwas cover manufacturing, engineering, research and development, sales, marketing, customer support and administration, and the company also supports a network of local suppliers and service providers. It exports products designed and manufactured in Caerphilly to international markets.

Eriez is currently investing in production improvements through the Toyota Lean Plus Programme, to increase productivity, improve efficiency and create capacity for future growth.

The company also offers apprenticeship opportunities and graduate pathways, and works with local colleges, Cardiff University and apprenticeship providers to develop future talent. Its links with Cardiff University’s Sbarc|Spark innovation campus support research, innovation and product development.

An Eriez-Europe spokesperson said: “Caerphilly has been home to Eriez-Europe for more than 50 years and remains central to our future plans. The borough provides access to skilled people, strong educational partnerships and excellent connectivity to the markets we serve. The loyalty and expertise of our workforce have been fundamental to our success, and we remain committed to investing in our people, our facilities and our innovation capabilities here in South Wales.”

Adam Sadler, Principal Business Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: “Eriez-Europe is a fantastic example of a globally successful company that has continued to invest in Caerphilly over many decades. Their commitment to innovation, skills development and high-quality manufacturing demonstrates the strength of the borough as a location for business growth.

“The company creates highly skilled employment opportunities, invests in research and development, supports local supply chains and helps showcase Caerphilly’s manufacturing expertise on an international stage. Businesses like Eriez make a significant contribution to our local economy and demonstrate why Caerphilly continues to be an attractive place to invest, innovate and grow.”
