Great sounds and sporting prowess will go hand in hand when Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) launches Swansea TRI Live on Saturday 19 May and Sunday 20 May.

As a key sponsor of this year’s UWTSD Swansea Triathlon, Swansea BID has organised two days of music and entertainment –  for free – designed to keep the crowds happy during the triathlon weekend.

The upcoming UWTSD Swansea Triathlon is Powered by BID, and BID is keen to build on the success of last year’s event by providing a weekend of live music, both for the athletes and for their supporters.

The event will see a host of popular acts, including the Valley Jiver’s dancers, The Shuffle, Sicknote Steve, The BID Brass Quintet, The Bay Run Hounds, Fiddle Sticks Orchestra plus lots more acts take to the stage in Swansea’s Castle Gardens, on both the Saturday and Sunday.

Chief Executive of Swansea BID, Russell Greenslade, said:

“I’m pleased to announce the return of Swansea TRI Live this year.  Last year’s triathlon was a great success for the City Centre and for the businesses within it and Swansea TRI Live really added to the celebratory atmosphere. As well as giving our backing as sponsors, Swansea BID is keen to give that little bit extra to the sportsmen and women taking part and to their supporters, by providing some top quality live music. I’m sure this free weekend of entertainment will encourage more people to visit the City Centre and enjoy what we have to offer.

“Swansea is teeming with music, culture and creativity, and we have a great legacy of sport here too. Swansea Triathlon brings people from all over the country to our city, so lets make this weekend a celebration of some of the things we do best.”

Scott Powell, Event Director at Swansea Triathlon organisers, Activity Wales, said:

“We are very much looking forward to this year’s UWTSD Swansea Triathlon, which will, I’m sure, see some fine sporting performances to one of the most eye-catching triathlon venues in the UK. We are very pleased to see Swansea BID going the extra mile to get behind the event by offering this free weekend of entertainment – I’m sure it will help to soothe some sore muscles.”

Music starts at 12pm until 7pm on the Saturday  and between 12pm and 3pm on Sunday. The first wave of athletes begin their race at 4:45pm on Sunday.
