A primary school in Newport are clued-up on savings after receiving financial education lessons from Principality Building Society.

Crindau Primary School, who were visited by the society’s Newport branch colleagues, learnt all about money matters last week.

[aoa id=”1″]With research from the Money Advice Service showing that children pick up adult financial habits from the age of four, the society believe it’s more important than ever to be teaching young people about finances. In the past 18 months, the society has reached over 10,000 young people in Wales by teaching financial education to schools.[/aoa]

Throughout the workshops, the students learnt about costing, how to save, needs and wants and saving for a day out. Principality’s popular Dylan the dragon character was featured throughout the sessions, to assist students on their learning journey.

Jo Gibson, Teacher, Crindau Primary School said: “We’d like to thank Principality for holding financial education workshops at Crindau Primary School. It was a valuable learning experience for the children and they really enjoyed learning about money and savings. The way Harriet and Kate engaged with the students was excellent and we look forward to future workshops at the school.”

Harriet Freeman, Customer Consultant, Principality Building Society said: “I was delighted to be able to deliver financial education lessons to Crindau Primary School. The students were enthusiastic and a joy to teach. Working with the community is incredibly important to us at Principality and we thoroughly enjoyed being able to teach the students of Crindau about how to both manage and appreciate money.”
