IKEA has confirmed that it will reopen its Cardiff store on Monday 22nd June, following today’s announcement.

All non-essential shops in Wales will be able to re-open from Monday as part the biggest unlocking of the coronavirus regulations to date, First Minister Mark Drakeford announced today.

Stores in England and Northern Ireland are already open, following the easing of lockdown restrictions in other parts of the country. Stores in Scotland will join Wales in reopening next week.

Peter Jelkeby, Country Retail Manager and Chief Sustainability Officer, UK and Ireland for IKEA said:

“Our stores in England and Northern Ireland are now open and we’ll be opening our stores in Scotland and Wales from 22nd June.

”Of course, the safety of our customers and co-workers remains the highest priority so we have been working hard to welcome you back safely.

“We’ve introduced new measures so you can enjoy a safe and comfortable shopping experience.

“Due to the need to limit the number of customers in store at once, please expect longer waiting times and consider the weather for your trip, as you may need to queue outside.

“We hope to be saying a socially-distanced ‘hej’ to you soon.”

IKEA are asking for shoppers to shop alone, with only one other member of your household permitted if you require ‘special assistance’. There will also be a queuing system outside of the store to manage entry.

The store is putting additional cleaning and safety measures in place, with hand sanitiser stations available for people to use. They are also asking that you come prepared with ready made lists and bags. Only card payments will be permitted also, no cash.

The IKEA restaurant also won’t be open.
