Angelo Starr & the Team also known as The Edwinn Starr band has been confirmed as the headline act at this year’s free Christmas Pops concert in Rhyl.

The concert is widely known to kick off Christmas in the county, and this year will take place at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre on Sunday 28th November.

Tickets are free to book from 10am today, Wednesday 10th November, by calling the Rhyl Pavilion Box Office and will be limited to four tickets per household. Concert goers are advised to set their alarms to book their tickets as the Box Office hotline is expected to be ringing off the hook for this popular event, with the tickets selling out within 48 hours for the last Christmas Pops concert in 2019.

The annual Christmas Pops concert is being hosted at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre for the first time ever due to the high demand for the annual concert. Rhyl Silver Band ensemble and vocalists will feature alongside The Edwinn Starr band offering a variety of music to the evening.

Jamie Groves, Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: “We are delighted to have secured such a great line up and the event has been long established as a way of kick starting the Christmas celebrations. It has been a difficult few months of repairs and refurbishment since the flooding, but we are so excited to reopen our doors and to kick-start the Christmas festivities with a variety of talented performers. Our volunteers and Friends of the Theatre have patiently been waiting to return and welcome concert goers through the auditorium doors again. Make that weekend the start of your Christmas celebrations with the Rhyl Christmas Light Switch on the Saturday and our Christmas Pops concert on the Sunday!”

Rhyl mayor Cllr Diane King said: “We are so very fortunate to be welcoming Angelo Starr & The Team to Rhyl. Angelo has sung with some of the greats, including Alexander O’Neal, so we are very fortunate to have him and his band having a starring role in Rhyl’s Christmas festivities. The popularity of the Christmas Pops is evident by the change in venue. Everyone is looking forward to a night of Motown and classic hits, a super start to the festive period, one that hits all the right notes.”

Doors will open from 4pm, giving concert goers the chance to grab a drink before the concert starts at 5pm.

To book your Christmas Pops 2021 tickets, call the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre Box Office from 10am Tuesday 09th November on 01745 330000.
