A man from Swansea has been jailed after he was found guilty of the murder of a five-month-old baby. 29-year-old Thomas Morgan, from Gorseinon, had earlier pleaded not guilty to the murder of Jensen-Lee Dougal at home on Players Avenue, Clydach, which took place while Jensen-Lee’s mother was in work on March 31, 2024. Wales risks “long-term damage” to its cultural opportunities unless the next Welsh Government introduces a dedicated Culture Bill to protect it in law, the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales has warned. Derek Walker says a 17% fall in public funding since the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act was passed has pushed the sector into “crisis”, threatening the cultural life that underpins Welsh identity, language and community cohesion. New figures released this week by Welsh Government and Fly-tipping Action Wales reveal a 14.7% rise in fly-tipping incidents between April 2024 and March 2025. This includes a total of 48,367 cases of illegal waste dumping – around 133 incidents every day – logged by local authorities. Despite the increase in incidents, councils have stepped up their response and enforcement activity has reached its highest level in six years, with more than double the number of actions being taken compared with last year (excluding investigations). Iceland Foods has officially opened a brand-new The Food Warehouse store in Caerphilly, which saw 153 customers eagerly waiting in line for the doors to open. The highly anticipated new store, situated at Gallagher Retail Park, Caerphilly, CF83 3GX, opened to the public on Tuesday 24th February, creating an additional 15 jobs in the local community. To celebrate the grand opening, the Caerphilly store has given away £1,500 worth of store vouchers to the first 150 customers in the queue.
