South Wales Police are investigating the sudden unexplained deaths of a 40-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman at an address on Rhodes Avenue, Port Talbot. Officers attended the property at 9am on Monday 5th February following a welfare concern. Upon gaining access to the property, officers discovered the bodies. Forensics have attended the scene. Our investigation is ongoing and the coroner has been informed.

Specsavers is calling on the Welsh Government to improve access to community audiology services for everyone in Wales. On 6th February, Specsavers alongside host Natasha Asghar MS held an event in the Senedd, ‘Let Wales Be Heard’, to ask the Welsh Government to commission a national audiology and ear wax removal service delivered by community audiologists. Every primary school in Cardiff is to receive an illustrated storybook which focuses on supporting children to overcome trauma. Written and painted by Welsh art psychotherapist, Lilith Gough, ‘Helping the Hare who hurts’ is a small volume that will be a useful resource for schools in the city to read with children who have experienced any kind of trauma. The Council has paid for the books with donations received as part of its White Ribbon campaign to raise awareness of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence. A Skewen trader has received a six-month jail sentence for selling an unsafe vehicle after a complaint was made to Neath Port Talbot Council’s Trading Standards team via Citizens Advice. Alan Peter LEWIS, of APL Cars, Skewen, had previously been found guilty of the charge, under the General Product Safety Regulations, in December 2023. At a hearing at Swansea Crown Court on January 25th, 2024, Judge Geraint Walters sentenced Mr Lewis to six months in prison.
