A fast-growing food wholesaler is opening a new depot in Carmarthen as part of a £6 million expansion plan. Overall Harlech Foodservice – which has other bases in Criccieth in Gwynedd, Chester and Merthyr Tydfil – will be creating 150 new jobs, with 15 of them in South West Wales. The public was treated to a surprise choir performance against the backdrop of Cardiff Castle yesterday to mark Marie Curie’s Day of Reflection this weekend. A day which will bring people together to remember those who died during the pandemic, and to show support to those who were bereaved. The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS) has played a leading role in the development of agriculture and the rural economy for over a century – 120 years exactly. Members and guests of the Society took to London to celebrate this special milestone. On the 26th of February 1904, a gathering of influential landowners came together to form the Welsh National Agricultural Society – an organisation that would later become the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society. Sixteen heritage fruit trees have been planted at a new Community Orchard site at Blackweir in Bute Park, including the ‘Apple Tree Man’ which is the traditional name given to the oldest apple tree in an Orchard. Over 1,000 people have already registered to attend the 2024 ‘It’s Your Swansea’ conference and exhibition. Now in its fifth year, the free event is taking place at Swansea Arena on Thursday March 7. Seel Park in Dinas Powys is transferring to the Community Council on a 99-year lease the Vale of Glamorgan council can confirm. Dinas Powys Community Council are keen to make improvements with the assistance of Friends of Seel Park Group.
