The M48 Severn Bridge has been closed in both directions this afternoon due to strong winds. Traffic Wales confirmed at 13:28 that the road had reopened following the earlier safety closure. The bridge had been shut to traffic in both directions as a precaution because of high winds sweeping across the crossing. During the closure, motorists were diverted via the Prince of Wales Bridge. Ahead of the Welsh elections in May, UKHospitality Cymru has set out its six key policy priorities in a new report – ‘Serving Wales: a manifesto for growth’. A disqualified driver who fled from police despite being arrested weeks earlier for dangerous driving has been jailed. Thomas Williams, 38, of Cristionydd, Penycae, Wrexham admitted a string of driving offences including two counts of dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified. He also admitted possession of Class A and B drugs. At Mold Crown Court last week, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. A man from Swansea has been jailed after he was found guilty of the murder of his own brother. The body of 48-year-old Martin Steel was found at an address on Hill View Crescent, Clase, shortly after 10:30am on Saturday May 20 2023. 41-year-old Darren Steel, from Morriston, pleaded not guilty to Martin’s murder and manslaughter in February 2024. Steel was found guilty by a jury on February 12. A new hand painted mural has been unveiled in Cardiff City Centre, celebrating the everyday journeys that connect people across Wales and the Borders.
