A South Wales property firm will revitalise a dormant brownfield site outside Merthyr Tydfil with the backing of a £4.1 million investment from the Welsh Government and Development Bank of Wales. MKR Property Developments Ltd has started construction on Paisley Business Park, on the site of the former ICI works at Pant Industrial Estate. A cat with her two female kittens have been abandoned in a box in Rhymney, Tredegar. They were found by a member of the public in a grey carry container just behind some bins on High Street on 8 November at around 3pm. The finder kindly took them in and kept them safe overnight until they were collected by the RSPCA the following morning. People looking forward to attending this Sunday’s Christmas parade in Swansea city centre are being urged to plan ahead. It will feature a vibrant mix of local community groups, dancers, bands, choirs, floats, inflatables, light-up characters, princesses and superheroes – all joining Santa Claus to switch on the city centre’s Christmas lights. Good progress has been made in the early stages of building a new school for Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Llyn y Forwyn in Ferndale – and a group of pupils and staff were recently invited to the new site for a closer look. A 6 week consultation focusing on the future of Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre will commence next week. Caerphilly county borough council’s Cabinet has this week agreed to seek feedback from the community on plans to permanently close the facility. The consultation will launch on Monday 20th November and run until Wednesday 3rd January 2024. Foodbanks provide emergency food and support to families and individuals who find themselves in financial crisis. They rely heavily upon donations, particularly over Christmas, and have seen demand for their support increase because of the current cost of living crisis.
