After beating kidney cancer in 2003 Kristina was then diagnosed with a rare eye cancer in 2013. A new film by Play Wales – the national charity for children’s play in Wales – captures why play is vital to children’s development, mental health, wellbeing, and happiness. Narrated by actor Matthew Rhys, the documentary was filmed over two years across Wales. It includes interviews with both children and adults talking candidly about the benefits of play, including a cameo from another Welsh film star, Michael Sheen. The Cardi Bach (552) service resumed in Ceredigion on Thursday, 20 July 2023. The service operates along a spectacular section of the Ceredigion coastline serving settlements between New Quay and Cardigan. The attached timetable has been submitted to the Traffic Commissioner and once this is registered, which is anticipated to happen on 01 August 2023, this timetable will apply. Until the service is registered the service will operate as per the timetable on the Traveline website with the Friday and Saturday timetable also operating on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. A team of North Wales water rescue experts are behind the UK launch of a pioneering lifesaving device timed to coincide with World Drowning Prevention Day (Tuesday, July 25th). Ruth Lee Ltd, a world-leading provider of rescue training aids, has been working with Outreach Rescue in Bangor to test the device. With the 2023 Royal Welsh Agricultural Show taking place this week, St John Ambulance Cymru are encouraging people to visit their stand at the show, to learn lifesaving first aid skills for free. Dogs Trust, the nation’s leading dog welfare charity, has celebrated two years of supporting dogs in Cardiff with a special event at its Cardiff Rehoming Centre. In its first two years, the charity has successfully found forever homes for 1,347 dogs creating countless heartwarming stories of companionship and love.  Held on Saturday, July 15th, the celebration took place at its rehoming centre, bringing together around 400 supporters, notable figures, and dog enthusiasts from across Wales, raising £1,600 for the charity.  The event was attended by notable figures, including BBC Wales presenter Liz Clement, and the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Cllr Bablin Molik. Imagery from an old Welsh myth has been given the 21stCentury treatment and now adorns the walls of a city high school, thanks to a collaboration between the Council’s graffiti removal team, pupils and local artists. The tale of Ceridwen’s cauldron was the inspiration for a project that brought together Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Plasmawr’s art department, members of the Council’s caretaking services teams and street artist Myles Hindle.
