Funding applications are now open for projects aimed at boosting Swansea’s rural communities. Grant funding is being made available to projects that support themes including rural economy and visitor experience, natural environment and climate emergency, innovation, and health and well-being. The funding is part of a rural anchor project being run by Swansea Council and funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Police in Cardiff are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in North Road, Gabalfa, which happened earlier this week (Tuesday, August 8). At around 5.15am, a report was received of a cash delivery vehicle being attacked near to Tesco Express by people on a motorbike. A new block of 28 apartments that will help Cardiff Council to expand its temporary accommodation for families in the city is nearing completion on the site of a former Morrisons supermarket in Pentwyn. The new homes, on Pentwyn Drive, comprise 20 two-bedroom apartments and eight one-bedroom apartments in a three-storey building. A city-wide cleansing service, introduced by Swansea Council in 2022, has led to more than 400 sites in the city being cleaned and spruced up. The Council launched the new Cleansing Ward Operative Teams (CWOT) initiative to tackle issues within communities that are not part of the regular cleansing regime and relies on information from members of the public and ward members to direct teams.
