Following statutory consultation carried out over the winter, Pennant Walters has submitted a planning application for Mynydd y Glyn Wind Farm, which will be determined by Welsh Ministers. With Wales committed to improving its supply of renewable energy to households, the proposed site could generate up to 30MW of electricity from seven turbines and supply around 15,350 households. A Newport man who engaged in conversation with what he believed to be a 12-year-old girl, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday (23 May). Mathew Jones, 33 from Bettws, Newport, was sentenced to five years and four months imprisonment after being found guilty of online sexual offences for engaging in sexual communications with a child and arranging to meet a child following sexual grooming. Three generations of the same family, including a son and grandson from the South of France, joined nearly 200 people who took part in the annual Montgomery Canal Triathlon on Saturday. The family was led by a grandfather in his 80s from Uxbridge who was joined by his son and grandson in entering the event, organised by the Friends of the Montgomery Canal with assistance from the Canal & River Trust, which owns the canal.
