Two men from Splott have been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of a van and machinery worth more than £100,000 following a major police day of action across Cardiff. Kevin Price, 44, and Christopher Price, 47, were among 32 people arrested on Thursday January 15 as part of a city wide operation led by South Wales Police. A man from Swansea has been jailed after his business was found to be selling illegal disposable electronic cigarettes. 26-year-old Halkawt Arif, from Waun Wen, was found on July 16 to be in possession of e-cigarettes which did not comply with the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016, due to having a volume of nicotine which exceeded the maximum permitted. Counterfeit tobacco was also located in an oven and in a secret compartment in the shop’s toilet. A man has been jailed after assaulting an emergency services worker. Roland Michael Doano, 47, of no fixed abode, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court last week, Friday 16 January, charged with assaulting a police officer. On 15 January, officers attended the bus station in Bangor following reports of altercation. Doano was arrested and taken to custody by officers where he became aggressive and kicked an officer to the chest. He admitted the offence and was jailed for 16 weeks. A vape shop in Port Talbot has been closed by Trading Standards after reports of illegal activity on site. Mr. Vape, based on Station Road, had been reported for possessing counterfeit and illicit (non-tax paid) tobacco and cigarettes as well as illegal and oversized vapes, including their sale to juveniles/youths.  Neath Port Talbot Council’s Trading Standards Team says the premises had also been accused of selling a Class-B drug, and during a search of the site in late 2025, a quantity of cannabis along with illegal cigarettes and tobacco were seized. New legal protections for NHS staff against nuisance and disruptive behaviour in hospitals have come into force in Wales. The changes create a specific offence of causing nuisance or disturbance on NHS premises and give the police and authorised NHS officers the power to remove people. Nuisance and disruptive behaviour includes verbal abuse, physically obstructing corridors, preventing staff from carrying out their duties and creative excessive noise in waiting areas, wards and other areas.
