Machynlleth based art collective Stiwdio Dyfi CIC has secured funding from the UK Government Community Renewal Fund to create a number of community projects that will run during September and October. Organisers of The GWCT Welsh Game Fair are delighted to report that more than 10,000 people visited the inaugural three-day event held at Vaynol Hall in Gwynedd last weekend. As well as showcasing fishing, clay shooting, gundogs, game cookery, falconry, horses and hounds, rural crafts, food and drink, visitors were treated to a wide range of attractions. But with the rise in global temperatures, the timing of seasonal ice formation and loss are changing at rapid rates. Since 1979, the average timing of lake ice break-up across the Northern Hemisphere has advanced by 8 days. The team at Swansea-based kidney charity Popham Kidney Support were delighted when members of the Ynys Freemason Lodge surprised them by delivering a cheque for £1,000 following the extraordinary efforts of one of its members. A Cardiff woman has been banned from keeping all animals for five years after admitting causing unnecessary suffering to a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Rhianne Saville of Cath Cob Close, Cardiff, was sentenced at Cardiff Magistrates Court on Friday, September 2 after the hearing was told how the dog called Dior was severely underweight and had been suffering. Newport will be host to the Wales and the Battle of Britain 80th anniversary exhibition this September as part of the nationwide commemorations marking an important chapter in the history of the Second World War. A Newport shop, its director and manager were sentenced yesterday for 26 offences of selling food past the expiry date and one offence in relation to a misleading label. Berzan LMT trading as Newport Foodway Supermarket, director Ali Ceylan and manager Aydin Atmali pleaded guilty to all 27 offences at an earlier hearing. As part of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s ongoing asset maintenance programme, Wilkins Terrace Footbridge will be undergoing refurbishment works from Friday the 16th September 2022 for six weeks.
