Swansea retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism businesses, charities and not-for-profit organisations impacted by the current Coronavirus restrictions in Wales can now apply online for emergency financial support. Funded by the Welsh Government and administered by Swansea Council, the new grant scheme is aimed at supporting businesses in these sectors which have been affected by the move to alert level two late last month. Pupils at Penybont Primary School can pick up their new favourite reading books from a unique vending machine. Each week, classes choose one lucky pupil to receive a token with winners chosen for their efforts, attitude and progress in reading. The winning pupil can then use the token to pick out a new book to keep from a vending machine within the school. The Cabinet of Bridgend County Borough Council will meet next week to discuss the local authority’s budget proposals for 2022-23. The council’s medium term financial strategy has been updated to reflect a record 9.2 per cent increase in funding from Welsh Government – an increase of £19.6m when compared to last year. Applications are now open for the Viridor and Prosiect Gwyrdd Community Fund. The Viridor and Prosiect Gwyrdd Community Fund is a £50,000 per annum donation that Viridor has committed to make available to community initiatives that operate in the local authority regions that make up Prosiect Gwyrdd; Caerphilly, Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Newport and Vale of Glamorgan.
