Pupils and staff at Gilwern primary school continued the trip of a lifetime on Friday 8th April with a virtual hike that will see them encircle the world. The project, which started in October 2021, will raise cash for charity as well as benefit pupils’ understanding of different countries and cultures, with the current focus being on exploring Indian culture. Powys County Council have been successful in a bid to the Armed Forces Covenant Trust Fund to deliver the ‘Embracing bi-lingualism with Service families’ project. The fund awarded £9814 as part of the Forces for Change programme 2022-23 to support local Armed Forces communities affected by isolation. The project will promote bi-lingualism with Nepalese families in the Brecon area. The project starts this month and will run for a year. It will support the induction of families, workshops, drop-ins, resources and information for parents to understand the importance of bi-lingualism. The Welsh Government is investing nearly £8m to continue three employment services that help people recovering from physical, mental ill-health and substance misuse into and to remain in work, Deputy Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Lynne Neagle, has announced today. The Out of Work Service and In-Work Support Service, which are helping people to rebuild their lives, and will be extended until 2025. The Out of Work Service helps the most vulnerable and those furthest away from the labour market.
