A team of staff and alumni from Llanishen High School will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon in aid of City Hospice, Cardiff’s local hospice, on March 27. Eight staff and 12 alumni will be taking part in the event and aim to raise £6,000 for the charity which is the only provider of home-based specialist palliative care in the capital. City Hospice provides care for patients with terminal or life limiting illnesses, in addition to essential counselling and support services for its patients’ families. Speaking at today’s ‘Cardiff Met Supporting Ukraine’ event on the University’s Llandaff campus, Professor Cara Aitchison, Cardiff Met’s Vice-Chancellor, pledged a range of support, including £400,000 over the next two years in Fellowships and Scholarships, as well as accommodation for those fleeing Ukraine. An employee-owned TV company has clinched a deal to launch a pioneering training programme for its staff and freelancers with the “world’s best film school”. Caernarfon-based Cwmni Da has signed a three-year agreement with the National Film and Television School’s (NFTS) recently established Cardiff hub, NFTS Cymru Wales to boost its team’s skills. Vivacity Labs, the London-based transport technology scaleup, today announced its partnership with Monmouthshire County Council to deploy Vivacity Labs’ sensors in Monmouthshire towns to better understand traffic flow and travel patterns for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
