South Wales Police are investigating after a man reportedly drove a bulldozer into a pub in Rhigos on Thursday night. Officers were called shortly after 8.45pm on December 4 following reports that a bulldozer had been used to damage a pub on Smiths Avenue. The vehicle is also said to have driven over a parked car that was unoccupied at the time. Police believe the event may have been targeted rather than a random act. Analysis by UKHospitality Cymru reveals that, compared to what is currently being paid, the sector’s business rates bill will rise by £19.6 million in 2026/27 (a 23% increase), by £43.3m in 2027/28 (a 51% increase) and by £67.7 million in 2028/29 (an 80% increase).
