South Wales Police can confirm that 27 people have been charged with offences relating to their involvement in the large scale disorder at Mayhill on 20th May 2021. The ages of those charged range between 15 and 44. The charges laid are for the offence of riot, with two defendants also facing charges of arson with intent to endanger life or being reckless as to whether a life of another would be endangered. Measures are being trialled in Ceredigion to create safer, inviting towns and to improve traffic flow in those coastal areas. During the busy summer season of 2020, Ceredigion County Council introduced temporary Safe Zones in coastal towns to allow people to keep a safe social distance in the early stages of the pandemic and to allow businesses to trade outdoors. Work has begun to install more than 200 life-saving defibrillators at Transport for Wales railway stations across Wales and the borders. Coinciding with ‘Defibruary’ – a month-long campaign by the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust to raise awareness of the importance of defibrillators – the first phase of the programme will see them placed into 53 TfW stations. Across the UK, 20,000 people are being recruited to create large-scale outdoor artworks, including in four of Wales’ most outstanding landscapes, for Green Space Dark Skies, part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK, from April to September 2022. The creative project is the first of its kind in Wales and will be taking place in Gower AONB (13 May), Brecon Beacons National Park (July) and Ynys Mon Anglesey (date to be announced).
