A group of well—wishers from Pembrokeshire formed a guard of honour at The Druidstone Hotel, Haverfordwest, to welcome-in ten cyclists on a 300-mile challenge, riding from Welwyn to Wales which was organised memory of a much-loved father who had passed away in the county ten years ago. Members of the Haverfordwest & Milford Haven branch and Narberth volunteers representing the British Heart Foundation were joined by family and friends of Angus Archer, 35, whose father Jeff died from a heart attack in 2011. Members of the public are being warned to keep away from Porthcawl’s Western Breakwater this summer due to the additional dangers presented by submerged materials that are being used during construction works to strengthen the breakwater. Signage has been installed advising of the dangers present in the area and fencing has been erected to restrict access to the iconic Western Breakwater while work continues on a £6.4m scheme that will defend homes and businesses in Porthcawl from flooding. Eight community projects in south Wales have been awarded a share of almost £820,000 in funding from the Welsh Government. The Welsh Government’s unique Economic Resilience Fund (ERF) has helped safeguard 70 important jobs against the economic effects of the coronavirus at Europe’s largest producer of paper straws – Caerphilly-based Transcend Packaging.
