TRIBUTES have been paid to a much-loved ambulance technician who has lost his battle with cancer. Dorian Williams, an Emergency Medical Technician in Swansea, passed away on Wednesday (23 June), just six weeks after his stomach cancer diagnosis. The 44-year-old is survived by his new wife Louise, 40, their daughter Natalia, nine, stepchildren Nathan, 19, and Naomi, 18, and week-old grandson Harlo-J. Friends, family and businesses from Wales and beyond have pledged their support to the Motoron Cymru fund-raising challenge in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research, which takes place next week. Bob Gledhill, 52, his wife, Dr Lowri Davies, and son, Will, 16, who live in Rhyd-ar-gaeau, near Carmarthen, launched the challenge after Bob was diagnosed with MND, a life-shortening illness, last autumn. Young people are being treated to surfing lessons at Aberavon beach to improve their emotional and physical health, thanks to a grant from Tesco. The Wave Project was awarded £1,000 to enable them to run extra surf therapy sessions for children and young people who have been referred to them by a variety of different agencies including child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS). Project 360° has launched a special video celebrating its achievements, and its legacy of support for military veterans living in Wales, ahead of Armed Forces Day on 26 June 2021. Project 360° was a national partnership project between Age Cymru, Woody’s Lodge and Age Alliance Wales to benefit military veterans in Wales aged 65 or over.  Funded by the Aged Veterans Fund, it ran for three years until June 2020. Pobl Group has been ranked 4th in the UK for the number of homes built for social rent during 2020/21. Influential trade publication Inside Housing’s annual Top 50 Biggest Builders development survey of how many homes housing associations are building highlights that the Group completed 478 homes across all tenures during the period, 282 of which were for social rent. The Open University in Wales (OU in Wales) has released the findings of its report, Skills for Success: Supporting business leaders with digital adoption, jointly conducted with Be the Business, revealing the challenge ahead for Welsh businesses in adopting digital technology.
