Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor, Councillor Jill Bonetto, has praised the work of community radio station GTFM as it extends its FM coverage to the Cynon Valley following permission granted by Ofcom to build relay transmitters. A drive has been filmed driving onto Barry Island’s beach yesterday morning (Monday 14 June) and subsequently getting stuck in the soft sand. Just after 7.30am on Monday morning, bystanders were astonished to witness an Audi A3 driver driving across the promenade and down the slip road onto the beach. A first-in-Wales emergency department exclusively for older people has opened alongside the main ED at Morriston Hospital. It follows a pilot project within ED that reduced waiting times considerably and saw fewer elderly patients having to be admitted. The pilot was introduced by OPAS, the Older Person’s Assessment Service, which aims to provide a comprehensive assessment for older people and avoid hospital stays for them if possible.
