Tourism leaders in Mid Wales have welcomed today’s Welsh Government’s decision to reopen indoor hospitality and the wider tourism sector on May 17. First Minister Mark Drakeford announced the plans to lift lockdown restrictions on hospitality and tourism following a call from the Covid-19 Tourism Taskforce, set up by Welsh Government, to bring forward the reopening dates in line with England and Scotland. Temporary railings are being installed at Ice House Square in SA1 in Swansea to help prevent mass gatherings in the area and keep people safe. The action has been taken following discussions between Swansea Council, South Wales Police and the Welsh Government, who own the land, in response to concerns of anti-social behaviour in the area in recent weeks. Bridgend County Borough Council and its waste partners Kier are seeking a new organisation to run the re-use shop at the Maesteg Household Waste Recycling Centre. The Siding, which was formerly run by Wastesavers, is temporarily closed after the social enterprise announced that it can no longer run it.
