At around 10pm on March 7, South Wales Police were called to a licensed premises in Barry. A 35-year-old man from Penarth suffered a head injury as a result of a fall and remains at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. At this stage there is no evidence or suggestion of a criminal act, and it appears the injury was caused by an accidental fall. Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of the incident.
Cardiff Bus is alerting passengers to modified timetables in response to the latest Government travel advice surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak. The operator will be running Saturday timetables across the majority of services on weekdays from Monday, March 23, with weekend services following their regular timetables. A social care leader is calling for an urgent and specific support package for struggling care homes and homecare companies in Wales – including an about turn on the decision to refuse to give them swabs to test for coronavirus. Terminal illness charity, Marie Curie, has announced that all of its upcoming public collections in Wales and across the UK as part of its biggest annual appeal will be cancelled due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. The Great Daffodil Appeal, which runs throughout March, sees thousands of volunteer collectors across Wales hitting high streets and supermarkets to hand out the charity’s iconic daffodil pins in exchange for donations. Following the Government’s advice on Coronavirus, Cardiff Council is introducing the following changes to help delay the spread of COVID-19, and to prioritise services. Bulky Waste Collections and Garden Waste Collections Cardiff Council’s Recycling and Street Scene services are beginning to prioritise services. From today, Wednesday 18th March 2020, the Council will not take any further bookings for bulky waste collections.
