Bronglais General Hospital in Aberystwyth is reaping the benefits of achieving its 100th apprenticeship delivered by award-winning learning provider Cambrian Training. The learning partnership between the hospital and Cambrian Training began 15 years ago and 101 staff, aged between 17 and their 60s, have since completed apprenticeship frameworks. The apprenticeships have been so successful at lowering staff sickness levels and improving performance that Hywel Dda University Health Board is considering using Bronglais as a model to introduce them in other hospitals in the new year. The RSPCA has launched its festive appeal Stock the Sleigh to help needy animals this winter as it reveals last Christmas Day was its busiest for five years. On 25 December 2018, the charity received 934 calls to its cruelty line – the highest number for five years and almost a third more than in 2017.
