Businesses from across Mid Wales have taken the first major step in developing the vision for a Mid Wales Growth Deal. 40 businesses, representative organisations and charitable trusts met in three workshops in early April to start the process. New artwork has been unveiled at Redrow Homes’ St David’s Meadow development in Colwinston after local artist, David Mackie, collaborated with children at the neighbouring St David’s Church in Wales Primary School to produce the masterpiece. The public art, which has taken two years to make, is made up of designs created by the pupils after David visited their school for a series of workshops and incorporated their artistic ideas into the finished article. South Wales Police is able to confirm that a 20 year-old man involved in the collision which occurred in the very early hours of this morning on the A4059, died from his injuries. His name is Ryan James Haymer – his family have paid the following tribute to him: “Ryan – a wonderful son, brother, uncle and boyfriend. Powys-based bioresearch company, Agroceutical Products, is playing a role in the fight against Alzheimer’s by harvesting Wales’ national flower. Daffodils contain galantamine – a compound known to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s symptoms. [aoa id=”1″] Established in 2012, Agroceutical Products is owned by former sheep farmer Kevin Stephens. The company grows its daffodils 1,000 feet above sea level in the Black Mountains in Powys, which means they produce more galantamine than daffodils grown anywhere else due to the altitude.
