Talyllyn Railway, the world’s first preserved railway, attracted the highest number of passengers for more than a decade and achieved record income last year. The railway ran 93,822 journeys and carried 48,857 passengers, the highest number since 2007. Passenger numbers increased by 7.1% on 2017. In addition, the railway achieved an all-time record income, with a 13% increase on 2017. Cafés reported a 16% revenue increase. South Wales Police is appealing for information on the whereabouts of 78-year-old Alun Price. He was reported missing earlier yesterday (Thursday) but hasn’t been seen by anyone for a couple of days. His car has been found in the Lougher area. He is described as a white man, about 5ft 10ins tall with short dark hair and glasses. South Wales Police is very concerned for his welfare. A live project at Swansea College of Art involving Surface Pattern Design students will culminate in an exhibition at St Fagans National Museum of History on February 23 and 24. Principality Building Society has delivered another positive set of annual results, with net retail mortgage lending growing by £718m, while new savings balances increased by £426m.
